We are 20 today!
On this day in November 2004, LCI delivered its first commercial fixed wing aircraft and, with that, embarked on a unique journey in aviation.
You can read about the entire journey here (https://bit.ly/4fpSsBk), from the very first deal struck by our founding shareholder, Libra Group, led by George Logothetis, onto fixed wing aviation, freighter aircraft, helicopters, and advanced air mobility.
Over the last 20 years, LCI has undertaken over US$10 billion of aviation transactions, including a US$1 billion fleet divestment in 2007, and a US$4.8 billion fleet investment and divestment cycle running from 2008 to 2020.
LCI is now one of the largest lessors of mission-critical helicopters and is taking a leading role in sustainable innovation and growth in the sector, most recently accelerated with an equity investment from Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Company, Limited (SMFL).
Jaspal Jandu, CEO of LCI, notes: “LCI’s journey is a unique one and every step has been underpinned by our incredible team and shareholders. Navigating the last twenty years in aviation has been full of twists and turns, and we’ve found significant value outside of well-trodden paths. I am incredibly proud of LCI and its DNA which is characterised by a nimble, innovative, can-do attitude.”
As we reflect on the past two decades and look to the future, we would like to thank all our stakeholders, particularly our customers and partners, who’ve shared in our journey thus far.
We are very excited for what the next 20 years will bring!
We’ve had a fantastic few days at EUROPEAN ROTORS 2024 in Amsterdam! Our team met with customers and partners, shared insights, and forged new collaborations.
We were also pleased to welcome our customers to a reception at the lovely Pestana Amsterdam Riverside.
See you all next year.

LCI is pleased to announce the expansion of its successful partnership with Omni Helicopters International with the lease of two new Airbus Helicopters H175.
Omni is the largest helicopter operator in Latin America delivering a range of Search and Rescue (SAR), Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and onshore and offshore crew transport missions. The two H175s will be used to support Omni’s contracts and join seven LCI helicopters already in service with the operator.
Nigel Leishman, Chief Commercial Officer of LCI, remarked, “LCI’s growing partnership with Omni demonstrates our ability to meet the growing demand for high-performance, efficient helicopters which can deliver mission critical operations in Latin America.
“The H175’s modern, efficient design is enabling Omni to significantly reduce operational emissions, especially when compared to larger legacy rotorcraft or alternative crew transport modes such as ships.”
With a 20-year track record of aviation leasing in Dublin, Ireland, LCI was thrilled to both sponsor and participate in the Irish Aviation Students’ Association‘s Aviation Career Expo 2024. 🚁
Our team connected with students and shared our expertise in the fast-growing world of helicopter leasing. By highlighting the diverse career paths available in this industry, we aimed to inspire students to pursue their dreams and contribute to the future of aviation.
Thank you to IASA for organising such a valuable event!

We are pleased to share that the LCI group of companies and partners have raised over US$2 billion of capital since the start of 2019.
Market commentary at last week’s Helicopter & VTOL Investor conference highlighted the importance of deep, robust and efficient financing channels in the industry – an area in which LCI has operated successfully for over a decade, building relationships with global financial institutions, and educating the investment community about the robust economic, technical and financial lives of helicopters.
Alan O’Rourke, CFO of LCI, says: “The first half of 2024 has been a strong one for LCI from a financial perspective as we have introduced four new lenders to the industry, ordered new helicopters from Airbus and Leonardo, and used the social loan framework we developed with SMFL to channel finance into eligible and verified social projects such as helicopters for search and rescue and emergency medical services deployment.”
“However, there is much still to do. Market dynamics are changing, and we are in a growth cycle as operators address replacement needs, increasing demand, and growing calls around sustainability. This growth must be managed responsibly by all stakeholders including OEMs, financiers, lessors, operators and end users. Equally importantly, the replacement and underlying growth of the global helicopter fleet must be supported by full-picture valuations from the appraiser community.”
“We look forward to working with all parties to underpin this mission critical industry with a secure, robust and long-term financial base.”
The LCI team has a had a great few days at Helicopter Investor London this week, meeting with customers and partners, speaking on a wide range of panels, and hosting a cocktail reception.
Congratulations to Alasdair Whyte and all the Helicopter & VTOL Investor team for another excellent event, which was a powerful platform to discuss and debate many of the key issues in the helicopter marketplace. We’re looking forward to 2025!

The WAA plays an indispensable role in saving lives across Wales, and has already accomplished over 43,000 missions. Its dedication to serving communities aligns with LCI’s values of safety, innovation, and social responsibility.
Nigel Leishman, Chief Commercial Officer of LCI, says: “We are confident that these helicopters will help to improve the capacity of the WAA as providers of essential life-saving care in Wales for years to come. With their advanced capabilities and Gama’s proven expertise in operating air ambulances, these aircraft will help to ensure rapid response times and the very best outcomes for patients.”
This agreement expands upon our existing relationship with Gama Aviation – with LCI already leasing three H145s to Gama for their Scottish Air Ambulance contract. The agreement also underscores LCI’s commitment to providing essential helicopter solutions for critical mobile medical services across the UK.
